Turn a vague prompt into a research workflow

Learn, practice, evaluate, and apply structured prompting with fictional account research. No model calls or data storage.

Why prompts need structure

Before

Research Acme Security and tell me if they're buying security software.

A model could invent buying intent because the task provides neither evidence nor a validation standard. A stronger request specifies six things: objective, audience, sources, constraints, format, and validation.

Objective

Prepare a fictional account research brief identifying confirmed company developments.

Audience

Enterprise AE preparing discovery.

Sources and context

Use only the two fictional excerpts provided in this exercise; cite the excerpt supporting each factual statement.

Constraints

Do not claim approved budget or purchase intent without explicit evidence. Label hypotheses.

Output format

Separate Verified facts, Hypotheses, Unknowns and Discovery questions.

Validation

For each fact, point to a source excerpt. Mark unsupported items unknown.

A well-structured prompt does not guarantee a correct answer; factual checks still matter.

Synthetic teaching fixtures only. Completion is not formal certification; no network or model calls.
